1. Out: Dewy Makeup // In: Matte Looks

“Summer is all about glowy skin with a dewy finish that reflects the sun and creates a super sexy sheen,” says Ono. “But as we transition to fall and the cooler months ahead, we’re covering up our skin more and getting more into matte textures.” To achieve the trend, Ono suggests swapping in soft matte products like skin tints, velvety lipsticks and powder blushes for a satiny-smooth finish.

2. Out: Subtle Lashes / In: Voluminous Lashes

“We often go for bare lashes with a bold lip for summer, but for fall, we can get more expressive with thicker, bolder lashes, which really accentuate the eyes and make your look more captivating,” says Ono. To boost your lashes, she recommends applying one swipe of volumizing mascara as it “gives a dramatic effect without having to use false lashes and instantly lifts and opens up the eyes.”

3. Out: Pop Of Pastel / In: Latte Makeup

Look, the bright and colorful eyeshadows in your collection are still fun, but we’re toning things down a little for the season ahead. “With fall approaching, we’re looking for more earthy tones and brown hues that will be complimentary,” says Kassajikian. As the makeup artist explains, the “latte makeup” trend will be a hit for fall, which shows off brown and nude shades and gives you a bronzy glow. Consider rich brown eyeshadows, nude lipsticks and creamy taupe bronzers inspired by your favorite fall beverage.

4. Out: Golden Hour Makeup / In: '90s Makeup

Golden hour makeup” was a great look for all the outdoor weddings you attended this summer, but Kassajikian is predicting a shift come September. “The “golden hour makeup” trend using rosy tones is beautiful for summer, but it doesn’t [work as well for] fall,” says Kassajikian. Instead, bring back the ‘90s makeup once more, focusing on smokey eyeshadows, dark red lipsticks and warm-toned blushes.

6. Out: Barbie Nails / In: Green Martini Nails

OK, there must come a time whenBarbiecoreis no longer trending…right? Well, according to Hanna, we’ll be seeing it leave pretty soon. “Barbie Nails were everywhere this summer due to the excitement aroundthe movie, but expect to see the exact opposite with moodier shades this fall,” says Hanna. A great alternative is the up-and-coming “Green Martini Nails,” which features hunter green polish and a shimmery top coat to bring the look together.

Skincare

7. Out: Overfilled Lips / In: Lip Flips

In the aesthetic procedure world, Levy is seeing clients stepping away from overfilled lips in favor of something subtler for fall. “In general, the trends are skewing more towards natural results and subtle enhancements, which is why ‘lip flips’ are an amazing alternative to fillers,” she explains. Lip flips involve a microdosed injection of Botox around the Cupid’s bow, which results in a fuller appearance along the upper lip without adding too much volume. (Post-treatment, Levy recommends applying a plumping gloss or a lip liner to further define your pout.)

8. Out: At-Home Skincare / In: Facial Treatments

这可能会引起争议,但根据征税, at-home skincare treatments (likemicroneedlingandchemical peels) are out. “Microneedling should alwaysbe done by a licensed medical professional. Not only will you achieve the best results, but you will prevent the risk of causing infection and skin damage.” Instead, Levy recommends visiting a place that is certified in the facial treatments you love or are interested in trying. And if youdostick to an at-home routine, she suggests speaking with a medical professional first to ensure you’re following best practices.

9. Out: Skin Steaming / In: Peels Season

“Skin steaming is a ‘less is more’ approach and is perfect for an active summer, but as the days get shorter and the UV index gets smaller, we want more action in our routines to treat the damage accrued from all of the salt and sun,” says Genzer. For a smoother transition from summer to fall, the esthetician suggests going into “peels season,” which means elevating your skincare habits and adding a few new products to brighten, protect and nourish the skin. As she explains, “While skin steaming is easy for people to wrap their heads around, adding in a few products to help enhance your routine doesn't have to be intimidating. It’s time to add actives back into our routines. We want exfoliation, retinoids and other actives to start to undo hyperpigmentation, sun damage and congestion.”

10. Out: Wolf Cut / In: '90s Blowouts

The “wolf cut” is adored by many (including us), but it might be time to try something new—and bigger. “The “wolf cut” started as something that felt genuinely original and fresh with rockstar vibes. Now, it’s everywhere and it’s starting to lose appeal,” says Cruz. However,‘90s beauty trendsare still thriving, so be on the lookout for more voluminous blowouts soon. “Blowouts with lots of height and movement will be huge this fall. Everything has felt so ‘undone’ for so long that I think people are looking to feel a bit more glamorous with bouncy curls and long layers,” says Cruz. To recreate J.Lo’s style, Cruz suggests prepping your hair with a volumizing mousse before setting your hair up in rollers and using a blow dryer to lock in the barrel curls. Once you take off the rollers (and brush the curls a bit), finish off with a humidity spray to maintain shape, add shine and prevent frizz.
