Netflix’s New Documentary ‘Depp v. Heard’ Is a Must-Watch for Court TV Fans

The streaming service recently dropped a brand-new trailer for the upcoming documentary,Depp v. Heard, and confirmed therelease date is August 16。The docuseries will offer a rare glimpse of the mind-blowing defamation case that captivated the nation.

The episodes will highlight the trial’s most defining moments and offer a side-by-side comparison of both testimonies. It will also explore the media circus that ensued—thanks to Depp’s request for a televised trial—and how social media made it the first “Trial by TikTok.”

Netflix’s official description reads, “Showing both testimonies side-by-side for the first time, this series explores this global media event, questioning the nature of truth and the role it plays in our modern society.”

The trial commenced after the formerly married coupled sued each other for various counts of defamation and abuse. The verdict was announced on June 1, 2022, and it was majorly in favor of Depp. (He won all three counts, and Heard won one of three.) As a result, the actor was awarded $10 million in damages.
