‘Harry Potter’ TV Series Producer Says the Show Will Dig More Deeply Into the Books

Harry Potterfans will need toAccio!something calming after hearing this exciting news. According to one of the producers for the newHarry PotterTV seriesin development atMax, the show will dig more deeply into thebooksthan theblockbuster film seriesdid.

David Heyman, who acted as a producer on all eight of theHarry Pottermovie adaptations for Warner Bros. Pictures, recently chatted withTotal Filmmagazineabout the highly-anticipated TV series (of which he is executive producer).

“It’s early days,” he said, in reference to the development of the show. “We haven’t even hired a writer to begin writing. It’s a bit early. But hopefully [it will be] something that’s very special, and gives us an opportunity to see the books, and to enjoy a series which explores the books more deeply.”

It wasfirst rumoredthat there was aHarry PotterTV show in the works back in 2021. Then, in April of this year, the series wasofficially orderedby HBO and Max.

Casey Bloys, the chairman and CEO of HBO & Max Content, said, “Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World. In partnership with Warner Bros. Television and J.K. Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years.”

Warner Bros. has described the show as a “decade-long series,” and according toVariety, the series will feature a brand-new cast, with each season based on one of the seven books.
