If you’re looking for a real-life version ofThe Bear, look no further thanHell’s Kitchen. The competition series documents aspiring cooks as they compete to become Gordon Ramsey’s next head chef. They must endure grueling challenges and dinner services that are designed to expose their weaknesses in the kitchen.
The comedy series chronicles the adventures of four Native American teenagers on a reservation in Oklahoma who are determined to go to California. To do so, they must steal, sell and raise enough money all while navigating a dangerous turf war. The characters are like Carmy because they will stop at nothing to get what they want. (FYI, season three is set to premiere on August 2.)
In this similarly fast-paced show, Cary and his sister, Brooke, are simply trying to make ends meet (just like Carmy). Everything changes when their teenage brother rises to fame and casts a shadow on their troubled lives. 4.Hacks
Deborah Vance is a legendary Las Vegas comic who desperately needs to break free of her outdated jokes. When she teams up with a 25-year-old comedy writer, chaos and hilarity ensue. The story line is more comedic thanThe Bear, but it has a similar theme of trying (and failing) to live up to expectations.
5.Platonic
The show’s tagline is, “Friends don’t let friends have mid-life crises alone,” and it sounds a lot like Carmy’s current situation. The story focuses on two best friends who reconnect after a years-long fight. Prepare to laugh your socks off.
The series is a dramatization of Albert S. Ruddy’s career—in particular, it focuses on his experience making the 1972 filmThe Godfather弗朗西斯·福特·科波拉。艾尔的奉献给他craft is reminiscent to that of Carmy. Jimmy Laird is a therapist who’s grieving the loss of his wife. When he realizes that his prolonged mourning is affecting his daughter, he tries a new approach to mend their relationship.
The series is based on the book series by Sherryl Woods and follows three childhood best friends—Maddie, Helen and Dana Sue—who never left their hometown of Serenity, South Carolina. Similar to Carmy, the Magnolias are trying to keep their business afloat while navigating mid-life drama.
