Cate Blanchett Is Rewearing Her Red Carpet Wardrobe for a Good Cause

Cate Blanchettis the latest celebrity to jump on therecycled fashion潮流,(bonus points!) it’s all for a good cause.

Yesterday, the美国太太star, 51, attended the 77th annual Venice Film Festival and walked the red carpet in a stunning hand-embroidered top by Alexander McQueen.

If the ensemble looks familiar, it’s probably because she previously wore the garment at the 2016 BAFTAs in London. She originally wore the spangly top with a feathered skirt (right photo), but modernized the Alexander McQueen bodice for this week’s Venice Film Festival by pairing it with a simple pair of black trousers (left photo).

The blouse was inspired by Spitalfields silk. It uses a combination of beading and floral appliqué to create one cohesive piece. While it could almost pass as a different outfit, the re-wear is no coincidence.

In fact, Blanchett’s red carpet re-wears will benefit a fundraising campaign in collaboration withRAD (or “Red Carpet Advocacy”)andChic Relief, the latter of which was co-founded by the actress’s stylist, Elizabeth Stewart.

Not only will Blanchett continue to flaunt recycled outfits during the ten-day film festival, but she’ll also donate each look to RAD for an upcoming philanthropic auction.

Stewart shared more details about the fundraiser on Instagram, writing, “Thank you to Cate and #SarahBurton for donating this look to the RAD for Venice auction benefiting @facinghistory and @unwomen. Please visit @chic-relief website (link in bio) from September 23 — October 2 to bid on this and many other looks from Venice! 100% of sales will be donated to these two charities.”

Timeless fashion FTW.
