I Finished an Entire Box of These Cookies in a Day (& I Still Can’t Believe They’re Vegan)

After trying my fair share of plant-based snacks, I came to the conclusion that I could never, everstick toa vegan diet. But now that I’ve tried Partake’s tastycookies, I’m starting to reconsider that statement.

如果你不熟悉分享,这是一个黑色的我们man-owned brand that creates non-GMO products, which are free from top allergens like wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, milk, eggs, soy, fish and shellfish. Thanks to ingredients likecassava flourand gluten-free oats, all snacks are certified vegan andgluten-free, which makes them ideal alternatives for anyone with multiple food allergies. Still, I was suspicious, because safer, better-for-you snacks typically mean less flavor. But what really won me over was the inspiring story behind Partake’s brand.

It all started when the brand’s founder and CEO, Denise Woodard, discovered that her daughter Vivienne had severe food allergies. Woodard found it extremely difficult to get snacks that were not only safe for her daughter, but also tasty and nutritious. This inspired the mom and entrepreneur to leave her corporate job and launch Partake, a company that would produce a selection of allergy-friendly treats that also satisfy the taste buds, frombaking mixesto cookies.

Given Woodard’s dedication to making safer snacks without sacrificing great taste, I just had to try out Partake’s cookies. I decided to test three popular flavors: Chocolate Chip (Crunchy), Birthday Cake (Crunchy) and Cookie Butter (Soft Baked). But do they all deliver in the taste department? Read on for my honest take on all three flavors.

1. Chocolate Chip (crunchy)

Value: 18/20
Quality: 20/20
Aesthetics: 20/20
Texture: 20/20
Flavor: 19/20
Total:97/100

What’s inside:Gluten-Free Flour Blend (Organic Light Buckwheat Flour, Cassava Flour, Gluten-Free Oat Flour, Tapioca Flour), Organic Fair Trade Cane Sugar, Non Gmo Sunflower Oil, Gluten-Free Oats, Tapioca Starch, Water, Chocolate Chips (Cane Sugar, Unsweetened Chocolate, Cocoa Butter), Tapioca Fiber Syrup, Sea Salt, Vanilla Extract, Baking Soda, Caramelized Cane Sugar, Rosemary Extract

I kid you not, I opened this box with the intention of tasting just one cookie, but after that first bite, my self-control went out the window. I finished the entire box that same day, and then I found myself reading through the ingredients to make sure these were actually vegan and gluten-free, because they didn’t taste like it at all. These cookies are not quite like your typical store-bought brands, like Famous Amos or Chips Ahoy, but they aresodelicious and have a satisfying, crunchy texture. I could actually taste thechocolate, which paired nicely with the cookie’s nutty, oaty flavor. And as a major bonus, the cookies are not loaded with sugar (just 9 grams per serving). The only thing I’d note is that they’re quite small (think bite-sized), so luckily, you won’t feel too guilty if you're like me and empty an entire box in one day.

2. Birthday Cake (crunchy)

Value: 18/20
Quality: 18/20
Aesthetics: 20/20
Texture: 18/20
Flavor: 14/20
Total:88/100

What’s inside:Gluten-Free Flour Blend, Organic Fair Trade Cane Sugar, Non Gmo Sunflower Oil, Gluten-Free Oats, Rainbow Sprinkles, Tapioca Starch, Water, Sea Salt, Tapioca Fiber Syrup, Baking Soda, Vanilla Extract, Rosemary Extract

Think of a healthier version of a shortbread cookie—but with little pieces of candy inside. The tastedidremind me a bit of abirthday cakeand I liked the crunch, but I detected a slight gritty texture while chewing on these. Also, the vanilla flavor was very subtle and I wasn’t a fan of the rainbow sprinkles (since they tasted more like hard candies to me). Still, I like that these cookies are not overwhelmingly sweet (8 grams of sugar per serving), and they taste pretty decent when paired with milk.

3. Cookie Butter (soft Baked)

Value: 18/20
Quality: 20/20
Aesthetics: 20/20
Texture: 18/20
Flavor: 17/20
Total:94/100

What’s inside:Gluten-Free Flour Blend, Non Gmo Sunflower Oil, Organic Light Brown Sugar, Gluten-Free Oats, Apple Juice Concentrate, Organic Fair Trade Cane Sugar, Tapioca Starch, Water, Fructose, Tapioca Fiber Syrup, Milled Flax Meal, Baking Soda, Sea Salt, Spice Blend (Cinnamon, Ginger, Cardamom, Coriander, Nutmeg, Clove), Caramelized Cane Sugar, Vanilla Extract, Rosemary Extract

原谅我,饼干黄油爱好者,但是我从来没有heard of the popular spread until recently. So, you could imagine my surprise when I bit into one and didn’t taste a smooth, buttery cookie. Instead, I detected strong notes of cinnamon and ginger. The texture was wonderfully soft and I was so impressed by the overall flavor and quality of these cookies. Still, I’m not a huge fan of this flavor because all that clove and ginger aren’t really my thing. If youarea fan of cookies with lots of spice, however (minus the extra sweetness), then consider this your new cookie soulmate.
