Beyoncé Just Shocked Fans & Dropped a Brand-New Song Earlier Than Expected

Beyoncé just surprised fans by releasing herbrand-new single, “Break My Soul,” a few hours early.

Last night, the 40-year-old singer dropped the full-length track, which is the first song from herseventh studio album,Renaissance. The single was supposed to drop at midnight, but Beyoncé released it ahead of time as an unofficial tribute toJuneteenth.

Not only does the song include a sample of Big Freedia’s “Explode,” but it also pays tribute to Robin S.’s “Show Me Love.” Though it’s one of many tracks on the album, it offers a glimpse of what fans can expect fromRenaissance.

Last week, fans learned that Beyoncé would be releasing new music. After she deleted pictures from social media, the singer subtly changed her bio to say, “6. BREAK MY SOUL midnight ET.” According toBillboard, “Break My Soul” is the sixth song on the track list.

This month, Beyoncé appeared on the cover ofBritish Vogueto promote her seventh studio album. The mag describes it as, “Music that makes you rise, that turns your mind to cultures and subcultures, to our people past and present, music that will unite so many on the dance floor, music that touches your soul.”

Beyonce’s seventh studio album,Renaissance, will drop on July 29. In the meantime, we’ll be listening to “Break My Soul” on repeat.
