The2019 Screen Actors Guild Awardshad aLouis Vuitton harness,Girl Scout cookiesand an epic meeting of the Jacks. That’s right: Bradley Cooper, who played Jackson “Jack” Maine inA Star Is Born, and Milo Ventimiglia, who portrays the beloved Jack Pearson onThis Is Us, met in the flesh.
Although it’s unclear what they talked about (Mandy Moore?Cooper’s dog Charlie? 100 people in a room? Playing a Jack?), their conversation obviously went well. Both stars brought it in and solidified their nascent bromance with a hug.
So, what led to this red carpet meeting? Their respective nominations, of course. Cooper was nominated for Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture forA Star Is Born(which was also his directorial debut). Unfortunately, Cooper lost out toRami Malekand hisBohemian Rhapsodyperformance. On the plus side, Ventimiglia and the rest of theThis Is Uscasttook home the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series (duh).
Although Cooper missed winning an Actor, his weekend wasn’t all bad. She typically ends each performance with the song, but this was the first time Cooper joined her on stage.
