On Tuesday, the50-year-old television personalityopened up about the process of choosing names for her kids on an episode ofLive with Kelly and Ryan. During one segment, Ripa and her co-host,Ryan Seacrest, discussed the most popular baby names in 2020. Of course, this prompted theAmerican Idolalum to ask his pal about naming her babies years ago.

“When you were coming up with the names for your kids was that a difficult thing?” Seacrest asked during the hit morning show.

“It was not difficult except that—with my first two kids—things happened. Both of Mark's grandfathers passed away right before [Michael] was born,” Ripa replied. “I mean, two weeks before he was born. So, he wound up being named after them. That was not the name we had intended. We sort of liked the name Joaquin a lot and we thought we would name him Joaquin.”

She continued, “And then, our daughter, we didnt know if she was a boy or a girl, but we had come up with the name Sofia if it was a girl and if it was a boy, Joaquin. I was in labor in the back of a cab, I was very uncomfortable and the cab driver had the radio on the ’70s station and “Copacabana” by Barry Manilow was playing. And that opening was playing, ‘Her name was Lola’ and I was like, ‘That's a great name we should write that down, just in case.’ And then we finally named a child Joaquin.”
