Obama is launching her ownchildren's cooking show, which will be heading toNetflixon March 16. On Twitter, Obama wrote, "I'm excited for families and children everywhere to join us on our adventures as we discover, cook, and eat delicious food from all over the world."
She added, "I’m also excited to work with @PHAnews to help kids build healthy habits and help families in need cook with fresh ingredients together at home. I hope you'll join us by watching on March 16!"
According to the official summary on Netflix, the show will center on Waffles and Mochi, two aspiring chefs and puppets who embark on a culinary adventure after they get hired at a supermarket. The synopsis reads, "With the help of friendly new faces like the supermarket owner, Mrs. Obama, and a magical flying shopping cart as their guide, Waffles and Mochi blast off on global ingredient missions, traveling to kitchens, restaurants, farms and homes all over the world, cooking up recipes with everyday ingredients alongside renowned chefs, home cooks, kids and celebrities."
华夫饼+麻吉,which will premiere with 10 episodes, comes as part of the multi-year deal that Michelle and Barack Obama signed with Netflix back in 2018. The show's cast will include Russ Walko, Jonathan Kidder, Michelle Zamora, Diona Elise Burnett, Andy Hayward and Taleia Gilliam. Meanwhile, the former first lady will serve as both presenter and executive producer.
The newcooking showis just one of many of Michelle Obama's newest projects. For instance, a documentary based on her memoir,Becoming, was released on Netflix in May of 2020, and just two months later, she launchedThe Michelle Obama PodcastSpotify。
