Prince William Shares Moving Message of Support for U.K. Soccer Player Who Came Out as Gay

Prince William has never been shy about speaking up and supporting theLGBTQIA+ community. And now, he is using his voice again to show support to U.K. soccer star Jake Daniels, who recently came out as gay on social media.

Earlier this week, the Blackpool FC star posted a personal letter to fans on the official team website. The 17-year-old athlete openly came out as gay in the statement, which was followed by a brief message from the soccer team, showing their support for the young player.

In response, the Duke of Cambridge posted a personalized message on Twitter. He wrote in the tweet, “Football should be a game for everyone. What Jake has done takes courage and will hopefully help break down barriers that have no place in our society. I hope his decision to speak openly gives others the confidence to do the same.”

William proceeded to sign the letter with his initial, showing the message came from him personally.

This is not the first time the royal hassigned a personal messagewith his initials. Just last week, William celebrated his recent win at the 2022 BAFTAs.The Earthshot Prize, which is sponsored byThe Royal Foundation, took home an award for its continuous work on fighting climate change.

To commemorate the win, the duke posted a personal message on Twitter, thanking the Earthshot Prize team for their hard work. “I am so proud of the whole team behind The @EarthshotPrize London 2021 for taking home a BAFTA tonight!” he wrote in the tweet.“It’s a joy to work with you all and this accolade sets the bar high for inspirational, sustainable live events right around the world. We can’t wait for USA 2022! W.”

Very well said, Prince William.
