No time to make it to Europe this summer? West Palm Beach’s Whitehall is the next best thing down here in South Florida. The 100,000-square-foot Gilded Age mansion, once owned by oil tycoon Henry Flagler, is like the Versailles of Florida (it’s more than 100 years old). The 75-room palace includes gardens, bedrooms, ballrooms, living areas and dining spaces, which are all open for visitors to explore. What’s more, the Cafe des Beaux-Arts has reopened inside Whitehall’s Kenan Pavilion to offer a Gilded Age-style tea service.

Home to the best waterfront hotel in the country (hi,Acqualina Resort & Spa), Sunny Isles is one of our favorite beach towns. Just under two miles long, this slice of paradise offers great places to dine, a healthy dose of adventure and plenty of things to do. The best part? One block north of Sunny Isles, escape towering skyscrapers for acres of open shoreline. Set up shop with a chair, a cooler and a stylish umbrella at Haulover Beach Park, which is one of the only areas in Miami-Dade County with a stretch of public sand and not a building in sight.

Did you know Miami-Dade County is home to the third-largest park system in the nation? That’s right—there are more than 280 public green spaces ready for a visit. Among them isBiscayne National Park. It’s definitely not your average park, either. More than 90 percent of it lies underwater, preserving South Florida’s coastal barrier reefs. See for yourself with a tour on a glass-bottom boat, which begins at the park’s visitor center. You’ll marvel at manatees, sea turtles, limestone corals and thousands of other sea creatures.

Take your pick of one of the manymusical acts making their way down south this summer. From Big Time Rush to Teyana Taylor to the Kid Laroi, dust off your festival gear and get ready to jam.
