Excellent News: Wine and Coffee Are as Good for Your Gut as Yogurt

Gut health has been a buzzy topic in the last few years, with more and more people praising probiotic supplements and foods like yogurt, kimchi and kombucha for keeping their regulation in check. Now a study has added a few slightly surprising beverages to the list: tea, coffee and, yes, even wine.

Nope, it’s not too good to be true. According to一项研究发表在Science Magazine, people who drink coffee, tea and wine have healthier and more diverse communities of microbes in their intestinal tracts.

The study’s authors, who looked at more than 1,100 participants, found that greater diversity in gut microbes is associated with better overall health (specifically in mood disorders, obesity and other diseases like irritable bowel syndrome). By drinking coffee, tea and wine, you’re introducing new microbes to your system and promoting said diversity.

So yes, a daily probiotic and occasional kombucha is still recommended, but consider your nightly glass of Cab Savalsoan essential part of a healthy and balanced diet.
