Princess Diana’s Brother Shares 100-Year-Old Portrait of Their Grandfather (and We See Some Strong Family Resemblances)

Charles Spencer(AKAPrincess Diana’s younger brother) may bean author, but he’sstarting to look like an art historianbased on his Instagram account. In the past few weeks, the 59-year-old has shared anumber of old family portraitsto his page, including这一最新, which is a 100-year-old painting of his grandfather, Jack Spencer.

In fact, the painting is a little over 100 years old, according to the 9th Earl Spencer’s caption: “My paternal grandfather Jack Spencer - painted in c. 1909, while a pupil at @harrowschoolofficial.”

Spencer’s grandfather, who was born Albert Edward John Spencer (“Jack” was a nickname), would've been around 17 years old in this portrait if the date is exact.

Turns out, Frederick served as senior member of Queen Victoria’s royal household (and if you didn't know, Queen Victoria was Queen Elizabeth II’s great-great grandmother).
