For哈里王子’s first Halloween withMeghan Markle, 42, the 39-year-old reached out to one ofhis high-profile friendsto try to impress his new girlfriend.
The Duke of Sussex recounted the story in his recent memoir,Spare(as noted byHello!magazine). In the book, the 39-year-old says he contacted pal Tom Hardy to see if he could borrow the Hollywood actor's疯狂的麦克斯: Fury Roadcostume.
Markle and Harry had started dating that past July, and they attended a Halloween party with Prince Harry's cousin, Princess Eugenie, and her to-be husband, Jack Brooksbank.
“We invited Euge and Jack to join us for Halloween...and Meg's best friend Markus,” the duke writes in his memoir. “Toronto’s Soho House was having a big party and the theme was ‘Apocalypse.’ Dress accordingly. I mumbled to Meg that I’d not had great luck with themed fancy-dress parties, but I'd give it another go.”
在他的attempt to secure a good costume, the royal wasn't messing around. “For help with my costume, I'd turned to a friend, the actor Tom Hardy, before I left home,” Prince Harry notes. “I'd phoned him to ask if I could borrow his costume from疯狂的麦克斯.”
The Duke of Sussex ultimately borrowed the entire getup, and he modeled it for Markle before the event.
“[Tom had] given it all to me before I left Britain, and now I tried it on in Meg's little bathroom,” the prince writes inSpare. “When I came out, she roared with laughter.”
In the Netflix docuseriesHarry & Meghan, you can see photos from that evening, where Prince Harry appears to be wearing pieces from the costume, including Hardy’s coat and scarf. The Duchess of Sussex talked about that same night during a visit toThe Ellen DeGeneres Showback in 2021, saying: “The four of us just snuck out in Halloween costumes to just have one fun night out on the town before it was out in the world that we were a couple.” (The news of Harry and Meghan’s relationship would leak to the press the following day.)
