Prince William Shares Rare Personal Message on Twitter and Signs it with the Letter ‘W’: ‘I Am So Proud’

Prince William just received a very high honor courtesy of the BAFTAs for his continuous work in fighting climate change. The Earthshot Prize, which is sponsored byThe Royal Foundation, took home the inaugural award. To commemorate the momentous win, William sent a special message to his supporters—and he made it clear that he penned the message himself.

This past weekend, the Duke of Cambridge posted an important message on Twitter, thanking the Earthshot Prize team for all of their hard work. At the end of the note, the duke signed with his initial. (The letter “W” not only indicates he wrote the message personally, rather than delegating it to his social media staff, but it also makes the note seem more genuine and from the heart.)

“I am so proud of the whole team behind The @EarthshotPrize London 2021 for taking home a BAFTA tonight!” he wrote in the tweet.“It’s a joy to work with you all and this accolade sets the bar high for inspirational, sustainable live events right around the world. We can’t wait for USA 2022! W.”

The Earthshot Prize Twitter account also posted a highlight reel celebrating the win. During the video, William andKate Middletonare shown clapping and sitting in the audience. Another clip shows the Duchess of Cambridge giving a speech on stage and rocking a sheer white dress with a sequin gold belt wrapped around her waist.

“EarthshotLondon2021 has won a @BAFTA!” the caption read. “Huge congratulations to everyone involved in our inaugural Awards, which celebrated some of the most extraordinary solutions to the Earth's greatest challenges. Here's to the USA 2022!!”

William launched theinitiative back in 2020, and it offers an annual prize of $65 million to help those dedicated to creating “solutions to the world’s greatest environmental problems.”
