‘Bridgerton’ Is Here to Stay—Shonda Rhimes Wants to Run the Series for at Least 8 Seasons

It looks likeBridgertonfans probably won't be saying bye to the show any time soon.

The show's creator,Shonda Rhimes, just discussed the smash series in an interview withVariety,她有一些博士期间的主要计划ama.

Back in April, it wasalready confirmedthatNetflixhad renewed the series for seasons 3 and 4, but Rhimes wants double that number. “There are eight Bridgerton siblings, and as far as I’m concerned, there are eight ‘Bridgerton’ seasons—and maybe more,” she told the publication.

This number would make sense, given that there are eight books inJulia Quinn'sBridgertonseries, from which the show is based. Rhimes is already following closely to the novels, with theupcoming second seasonbeing based around the second installment,The Viscount Who Loved Me.

And as we've previously learned, Rhimes is going to expand theBridgertonuniverse outside of the main series, too. Back in May, Netflix announced that Queen Charlotte (played by Golda Rosheuvel) would be gettingher own spin-off series.

In her interview withVariety,Rhimes said, “I’m very obsessed with Queen Charlotte, and I always call her the Beyoncé of the show.”

But of course, when talk ofBridgertonrolls around, there's always the question ofRegé-Jean Page, who made waves with his turn as the Duke of Hastings in season one, and then caused devastation when it was announced hewouldn't be returningfor season two.

When asked if Page would ever return as the Duke, Rhimes said, “I don’t think so! And here’s why: He’s an enormous star now. As I like to say, the idea that we would write Regé to stand around in the background doesn’t make any sense at all to me. ‘What would he do?’ is what I like to say.”

We still have a feeling we haven't seen the last of the duke. And hopefully, we've got 7 more seasons to look out for him.
