Wait, Taylor Swift Co-Wrote a Song on Olivia Rodrigo's New Album?!

Olivia Rodrigo (who you might know for a little song called "Driver's License") is dropping her debut album at midnight tonight. The writing credits were released ahead of the premiere, and while Rodrigo wrote most of the tracks with her producer Dan Nigro, there was one name we didn't expect to see:Taylor Swift.

Although Rodrigo didn't personally work with the pop music superstar (at least not yet), it turns out that her track "1 step forward, 3 steps back" is an interpolation of Swift'sReputation时代的歌曲“元旦”,由Jack Antonoff.

The fact that Rodrigo used one of Swift's compositions as the basis for a new track is not all that surprising. TheHigh School Musical: The Musical: The Seriesstar has previously expressed her admiration for the "Blank Space" singer, tellingApple Musicthat she was "inspired" by Swift's songwriting and revealing toRolling Stonethat the bridge of her song "Deja Vu" was inspired by Swift's "Cruel Summer."

The two singers met for the first time at the BRIT Awards earlier this month, where Rodrigo shared a photo with Swift.

Due to the fact that Rodrigo loves Swift's music, many showed their excitement in the comments. The official MTV account commented, "i knew it was gonna happen and i was still unprepared." Singer Ashe wrote, "zero words i— i’m so happy for you," while fellow star Conan Gray said, "i love my sister and my mom."

Fingers crossed that we get a Swift/Rodrigo collab in the near future.
