This Mark Wahlberg Movie Has Been the #2 Film on Netflix for Over a Week

We’ve been in along-standing relationshipwithNetflix(especially over thelast eight months). So, anytime we see anew seriesor film in the platform’s top ranked spots, our interest is immediately piqued. And that goes double if the movie is a black-ops action thriller starring Mark Wahlberg.

CalledMile 22, the flick pulled aMoneyballand became the #2 film on Netflix’s list ofmost popular movies. Even better? The movie has held its spot for over a week. (It’s currently ranked behindThe Impossibleand ahead ofOperation Christmas Drop,Knock Knock,The GrinchandHolidate.)

Originally released back in 2018,Mile 22is whatVarietycalls “a Bourne film that aims lower and hits.” Wahlberg plays a U.S. intelligence elite squad leader who must travel over 22 dangerous miles to help a mystery agent turn himself in to the United States embassy. Watch the full trailer below.

The film’s official synopsis reads, “In a visceral modern thriller from the director of Lone Survivor, Mark Wahlberg stars as James Silva, an operative of the CIA’s most highly-prized and least-understood unit. Aided by a top-secret tactical command team, Silva must retrieve and transport an asset who holds life-threatening information to Mile 22 for extraction before the enemy closes in.”

In addition to Wahlberg,Mile 22also stars Lauren Cohan (The Walking Dead), Ronda Rousey (Charlie’s Angels), John Malkovich (Billions), Natasha Goubskaya (GLOW), Carlo Alban (Madam Secretary), Iko Uwais (Triple Threat) and Sam Medina (Preacher).

Mile 22was directed by Peter Berg (Lone Survivor) and written by author Lea Carpenter and Graham Roland (Jack Ryan). Both Wahlberg and Berg also served asexecutive producersalong with Stephen Levinson (Deepwater Horizon).
