Well, (good news!) the streaming service just confirmed the release date for the second season, and yes, the maincast memberswill reprise their roles. Here’s everything we know aboutSweet Magnoliasseason two.
Ready your plate of Chef Erik's brownies, because according toNetflix, season two will premiere on Friday, February 4, 2022. Like season one, there will be 10 one-hour episodes.
Netflix confirmed that Joanna Garcia Swisher (Maddie), Heather Headley (Helen) andBrooke Elliott(Dana Sue) will reprise their roles inSweet Magnoliasseason two.
Meanwhile, Jamie Lynn Spears was promoted to series regular, so fans can expect to see a lot more of Noreen. Chris Klein will also return as Maddie's ex, Bill Townsend, Justin Bruening will return as her boyfriend, Cal, and Rowland and Logan Allen will stick around to play Maddie's sons, Tyler and Kyle. Other returning cast members include Anneliese Judge (Annie), Brandon Quinn (Ronnie) and Dion Johnstone (Erik).
Fans will finally get answers to some of their biggest questions, including who was in the car during that intense finale. But according to Netflix's logline, the big reveal is just one of the "many surprises" to come out of prom night.
The official description reads, "Friendships flounder. Old loves end and new loves begin. Long-hidden secrets disrupt jobs, change lives, and shift the balance of power in Serenity. Everyone is affected."
It continues, "But in laughter and in loss, the Sweet Magnolias continue to fight for what is right for themselves and the people they love—even when those efforts come with a high price tag. Will they find there are some problems not even margarita night can solve? Come pour it out and find out."
In addition to Maddie and Cal, season one also left us wondering about another relationship: Ty and Annie. Carson Rowland told PureWow he’s excited to see where their story line progresses, despite the rocky start.
“I would love to see what happens with Ty and Annie,” he said. “They are essentially ‘meant to be’ and the first season was a chaotic one for those two and their relationship.”
We can't wait to see where this romance goes in season two.
