I know, I know. I'm well aware of the fact that I'm the last person on earth to see this iconic film.
Icouldsay that it's because I was just 7 years old whenTitanicgot released.或I could say that I was raised by overprotective parents, which seriously limited myentertainment options. But I know that these excuses won't cut it—especially since this movie was released 25 years ago.
So, after years of putting it off (and missing out on several movie references), I finally decided to hop on theTitanicbandwagon. Was I excited to watch? Well...not really. I'll admit, Ididlook forward to seeing my childhood crush,Leonardo DiCaprio, in action, but otherwise, I knew what to expect. Because I'd heard enough discussions and seen enough commentary to at least get the general idea. Or so I thought.
See, I expected thelove storyto remain the key focus throughout the entire film. So as I watched the second half, I was wholly unprepared for the disaster element (talk about heartbreaking). I was also pleasantly surprised by the spot-on social commentary on classism and gender inequality. But while I found this movie incredibly moving overall (yes, Ifinallyget the hype), I can'tnotmention the confusing moments and plot holes that left me raising an eyebrow. Forgive me for being so late to the party, but now that I'm all caught up, perhaps someone can answer one of these seemingly obvious questions for me.
